If you thought that Star Trek was for trekkies and nerds, you would be
right! And now it’s for you, too, assuming you are not already a self-
proclaimed nerd or trekkie. First off, with a director like J.J Abrams,
you know it will be good (currently J.J. is also working on popular
television show, Fringe). This movie was amazing. It took a beloved
show and gave you a look at a different reality. What if Jim Kirk’s
father had died and not pushed his son to join Star Fleet? What if
Captain Kirk wasn’t captain and Spock was? And Uhura liked Spock?
Yeah, that part caught me off guard, but it further illustrates my
point that this movie is full of suprises– a.k.a. amazing! This film is
like none of the other Star Trek movies ever made. The movie tells
the basic story of the fight against evil, but the end of the flick
left room for a sequel, so expect one in the next few years! So though
this movie isn’t getting as much love at the box office as it should,
it’s worth the ten bucks. I give it a 9 out of 10.

Britain’s Got Talent favorite Susan Boyle has had a rough last couple
weeks. First, her voice cracked, and now she gets beat out of the final
prize by a bunch of dancing eight-year-olds. When the competition
began, Susan was the story that everyone wanted to hear. She came out
on the stage with that familiar little strut. The entire audience
looked very confused. When Pierce asked her what she was going to do,
she answered, “I’m going to sing.” Everyone, even the judges,
erupted in laughter. So then she grabbed the mic and belted out a
beautiful song. Everyone was stunned, and thanks to the power if the
Internet ( Youtube, mainly), everyone has seen Susan’s stunning
performance. This, of course, led to instant stardom. Susan, as it
would seem, is not taking this instant fame. In another performance,
her voice cracked. She has been screaming at the paparazzi and the
media. Perhaps this led to her defeat? Susan was overexposed and,
though it may be hard to believe, she went from nothing to a national–
if not transcontinental– star overnight, so it would be a little
stressful. But, according to reports, when she lost Susan freaked the
heck out. As of now she’s hospitalized for exhaustion. But though she
had her little freak out, the future may still be bright: Her voice is
still beautiful, and I’m sure that she get back to normal as her
instant fame dwindles.
